today is the first day the valver has been onthe road legally since i got it.

the day started off with me attempting to change the speedo cable as i couldnt get the speedo working. i bought a new cable and continued to fit it. i got the old one out and realised that it was made with two parts. i tried fitting the new cable but i couldnt get the nut at the gearbox end started. i compaired the two cables and decided that even tho the older one was shorter, i decided to have a go at refitting it as two parts. i connect one half to the gearbox and then cabletied the other end to the speedo. then stuggled to connect the two ends together behind the inlet manifold but i got there in the end.

next i set off from home to go to my grandrents in ipswich. i started on a buz not wantin to unleash the valver just yet untill i got on the a14. the journey all went well and i was loving every minute of it until i arrived at ipswich.
as i came off the a14 on the slip road, i droped it down into forth while slowing down.......... then the ecu light came on and it started to idle like it had huge cams in it. this progressivly got worse and worse until the enevatale happened. i stopped at the traffic lights and it died. i got it started again but it wouldnt rev and was totally gutless.
i aventually got it in the shops carpark near my grandrents and called me rents to get them to give me a tow.

by this time i was totally pissed off with the car. i couldnt work out what was the problem. i thought it might of been something to do with the dizzy or the leads but didnt have any tools to check anything out with.

i left the car outside me grandrents for a hour or so then went back to it, i started looking over the dizzy and found a small drop of oil coming from the dizzy cap join. i then thought the seal between the dizzy and camshaft was leaking.

i decided that i might aswell make use of my xmas pressent (AA membership) and gave them a call. they had a techanician there in only 10mins!

i explained what had happened and what i thought it might be (as im a mechanic). he plugged the diagnosis machine into the valver but couldnt get it to comunicate. he then carried on to remove the dizzy and there was a very slight amount of oil in there but not enough to be concerned about, after checking the the leads where ok and that the dizzy was ok and everything was sparking, the AA technician asked if i wanted to drive it home with him following me as it seams to be running okish.

so i drove it home ahd at first it held back when accelerating but then it would fly!

anyways, the whole journey home well really well and no fuck ups!

when i got back the AA man checked it all over to just make sure it was all still ok. by this time the AA man had been with me for nearly 1hour! hes not supposed to stay for more than 20mins!!

he checked it all and it all seamed ok, he then removed the HT leads again from the plugs.

cyl 3 had loads of presure inside the plug bore!! we thought WTF!!! so we removed the spark plug which was loose. replaced the spark plug and its all good now!!

we never did find out what was causing the car to missfire and run really badly but what ever we did to it seamed to sort it out!

well thanks for reading my essay about my dads epics.

I RECOMEND AA MEMBERSHIP TO ANYONE AND EVERYONE!!!!!

cheers

I have also had service from the AA. When I called them out the guy stayed trying to find the fault for 3 hours and then followed me to the Vauxhall garage when he decided he couldn't fix it
