right, ive been thinkin about tradin my car (1.4 exclusiv) in for a 1.8sri. but considerin mine comes with heated leather, climate control, irmscher kit wheels im feelin a bit reluctant.
soooooo....
what about puttin a 1.8 engine into mine? is this worth while, how much am i lookin at spendin etc?
please help lads..... your my last option!!

im gettin the general concensus from you all here. howcome its a no? sorry im not a mechanic or owt, but just wondern why it wouldnt be worth it.

lots of hassle, harder to insure as conversion, no warrantys, harder to sell. probably cost the same as trading in and getting 1.8sri

a new or decent 1.8 engine would cost you about 1500 quid at least, then you'd need to pay someone to fit it, and the loom for the engine is probably different, so that would need changing
it would cost far more than buying a 1.8 sri
you could try buying the sri, keeping your car for a few days and swapping the bits over, then taking your car back to them and selling it to them with sri bits

Heated leather, nice in winter but not needed in summer, climate control, nice but something extra to go wrong, Wheels, probably rare but not really that nice anyway. Defianly swap imo.

Or you could look out for a 1.8 SRi like this one here
Just needs the Irmscher kit and doesn't have climate control

Is the one I posted near to you? It says Ashington Autodrome, not sure where that is 
Go have a test drive in it if its not far from you then you will know about the performance
