Went to santa pod this weekend, but sadly the weather was absolute shoot.
Cold, damp / wet at times (and thus waiting for them to dry the track) - but worst of all blowing an absolute gale directly down the strip (The wrong way).
Before I was doing terminal speeds of 88-90 mph, this weekend I couldn't get any better than 84-86 terminal speeds! Wind was just slowing the car down too much in 3rd / 4th gear.
Best I could do again was a 15.3 @ 86 mph (AGAIN! ffs) and a load of 15.5's - did 2 15.7's where I realised my induction hosing had fallen off and thus my engine was sucking hot air directly from the engine.
Interestingly when I did my 15.3 before it was at 90.4 mph - so in theory, without the gale I should get lower, this is now with the mani, where as before without.
This ford anglia was running a 2.0 16v redtop on 45 carbs, with cams, forged pistons and all sorts - did low 14's against me, but was aiming for 13's!

most of the time was spent like this thought - sitting in queue's waiting for them to dry the track / close the track due to wetness.

video here of me getting whooped off the line (but looks like I get him before the end) http://photobucket.com/albums/v181/azervas/Midnight%20Racing/Santa-Pod%2026-03-06/?action=view¤t=MVI_0037.flv
All in all total waste of money gonna have to try again and see if I can get below my 15.3 pb before I whack a set of cams + remap on. Practically every timing slip of mine showed .340 reaction times too hehe cheater
Ok you bum boys, (OJC etc) I promised you gayness!
So here's Captain_Rosco (Dave) off this site being bummed in a gazebo, by a guy called Dan.

he also got his car stuck in the mud

Oh yeh - also, every other GTi / VTS I saw, spoke to that weekend, seemed to be struggling to even get in the 15's - maybe due to the wind? Some with the same mods as mine. So maybe my time was good considering?
Was a stripped S1 106 with VTS lump and stuff, he said his pb was 14.8 and I beat him across the line

wind will have some bearing on it all... but nothing compared with a damp track and a FWD car!

I also suspected this mate - sadly I don't swing that way
Was a funny weekend - can't believe on the drive home in the spray and tiredness I drove straight past the m25 turn off on the m1, what a mission getting home haha and the police all speeding into toddington services, with police helicopters overhead - all for a guy in a mini cooper.
Was gutted with my times I wanna go again!

It does annoy me when they are constantly poncing about drying the track, especially for that jet car. Yeh its good to see once, but after that - yawn.
So 30 mins of drying, jet car goes down, 30 mins of cleaning track from all the shit it chucked out of the back. Then another 30 mins of drying the track coz its got cold since, 2 mins of people going down strip and then break for lunch for an hour

it makes me angry how they have to dry the track for the gay nitro cars, yes it needs to be dry for them, but if the track isnt dry they should just let the street cars run and tell the nitro cars to piss off
