are they necessary on xe and let converted corsa's and nova's??


just curious, i was of the thinking that the rear drums arent sufficient

I drove my corsa XE without rear disk conversion for about 18months no problem, but its LET i have had it done!

the difference is massive! much better braking!

and it looks better too!

If they are set up right then yes they will improve braking.

But if you look at redline last year, I beat two novas with rear discs by about a second (just under i think) on the 100-0, which is quite a lot! So drums are not that bad

I think its mainly down to prefrence, I would love a set purely for looks as drums look shabby, even paxo's have rear disc as standard

drums all day long thanks. back end is too light to warrant anything better in my opinion.

rear disk means ur get a crap brake pedal as the master cylinder is tooo small to cope. My advise leave the drums on the back and get big brakes from the front

The most common calipers used such as those on the GTE are prone to seizing as well from what I've been told. So long as you've got decent brakes up front, thats what matters most - the rears are pretty much only there to balance the car.

You can easily overbrake the rear.... and end up in a spin!

Drums are fine, they do get hot rather quick though.
