c20xe with an f20 is 50 kilos heavier than an x16xe with an f15
50 kilos = 8 stone

the 1.2 8v is 155 kilos with box, the xe is 190 with box, bith wet, with manifolds. Theres a 35 kilos differencebetween the two. Saying theres 50 between the 16vs is utter utter rubbish

interesting but i bet this will cause arguments me and corsa120 will say we didnt think the weight difference was as much as everyone else made out and the x16xe crew will say your scales are incorrect

acording to that otgher thread the 1.6 is 110 kgs. unless im missing something very obvious i cant see a 1.2 8v being 45kgs heavier than a 1.6 16v

can we start the 1.6 / 2.0 debate again now????
No lets no it has been covered so many times!!!
I would really like to know the truth on the real weight difference if only to make up my own mind on what I feel is best, not doubting the figures in this thread infact I'd like to believe they are true!!

all i know is that my 1600 is faster and handles better than every 2 litre converted corsa i have driven.

even if you take the scales to be incorrect, the magnitudes are similar and the percentage increase in weight is going to be the same. A 16xe is going to be heavier than the 1200
We weighed the smallblock box ater for shits and giggles and it was 31kg, so a wet 1.2 engine and ancilliaries is going to be 124 kilos.
I have to say that Im amazed by the difference, but its nice to know!

with any 2 litre conversion, weight is going to be a big factor but if you've got the money to spend on handling goodies there is no reason it cant handle like a normal weight car!

if you got the money then yes! you could be looking at things like a space frame,
but thats as far as im getting involved into this argument this time!

its 35 kilos ffs, yes its going to make a difference, but its not as bad as i thought it was going to be lol. Its not like having someone sat on you bonnet or anything that severe, and thats a worse case scenario. Ive had people argue the scales are out, but if they have gone out, they will over read (spring balances always will) Therefore both engines would be lighter and the difference would be even smaller!

we will soon have a definite answer to this, I have a c20xe with an f20 attatched and a x16xe with an f15 attatched, an engine crane and proper industrial scales.
