Decided to move on up in the world and get a car that actually moves! Think Im down to two choices now, either an RX or S2K. Which would you go for? Thinking of doing something along the lines of the pics below.
RX will be OEM CF bonnet and a more smooth front bumper!

S2K would be a bit like this

S2000 for me, yes rx7 will be quicker, but s2000 is newer, probably more reliable too.

when paul says probably he means definately j/k
If looked after a RX should be reliable all day long, but more exciting than an s2000 if you ask me, but i dont think you would be dissapointed with either.
S2 will be newer, and cheaper to run so id say that ,but i love RX's so i would want one just for the factor

As Nismole proved. The RX was able to stand up to hard launches etc far better than his S2k

well the S2000 is never gonna break down, whereas the RX-7 is gonna need to be more cared for and regular maintenance. so S2000 for me!

S2k's are in the region of 10k, RX7's are from 4k upwards. Depends how much you want to spend. The S2000 should be more reliable, but i'd imagine the RX7 is much more fun (i've not driven an S2000, only been a passenger)

people need to get this misconception out of their heads
HONDA'S BREAK JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER CAR
they have never had an engine failure from the v-tec engines but that doesnt mean stuff doesnt go wrong

They don't break down as much though, in comparison with other cars. Either way, if you're handy with a spanner you can do most of the bits on the RX7 yourself. I did, and saved a fortune in labour.

think I prefer the look of the RX, but the engine (more modern) of the S2K. Might take a look around and see whats available styling wise for the S2K, dont want anything too much but need something to make it different than the 100's on the roads by me!

Had my S2K for 3 days before it was off the road with a bust CV joint and drive shaft!!! Due to launching it to hard.
RX Pro's
Faster
Better Handling
More tuning options
More styling parts
Lower tax bracket
S2K Pro's
Convertable!!
cheaper to run
Being in a pretty good position to judge id say it all depends what you want , if you want speed and handaling then the RX will win hands down , dont get me wrong the S2K is fast just not that fast.
people will say that the rx is unreliable but i had mine 2 1/2 years before the engine died and it went on to do 80K , how many jap super cars will last that long pushing out big power??? evos and scoobs die well before that and you can get an RX rebuilt for 2k+ where as piston lumps are mega bucks.
RX7's were made up untill 2002 so depending on your budget you could get a very good one. S2ks are now going for 10K+
Also consider DC5 Integra's as they now go for 9K+

yeah I know, neither is the S2K!
I think the fact that the S2K is convertable is whats keeping it in the running ATM, wish the RX did an aero top like the supra!

problem is the rx7 engine has to be rebuilt every 60-70 000 miles even though they do look stunning

Technically, they don't actually have to be rebuilt every 60-70k miles. The get rebuild when the tips go. Some will last 30k miles, some will last 100k miles.
Also, even a standard RX7 has aged well. How many 14 year old cars can you mention (excluding supercars) that have aged even half as well. Mine was 14 years old, but didn't look half as old as that.
