Has anyone had it?

I'm looking at doing it in the next month or so and just wondered if there was anyone here that had had it done? Which clinic? How's your sight now?

The laser alternative where they dont operate it a better choice imo (Lasek). The recovery time is only a matter of weeks. I was going to go for this, because if you're involved in contact sports then the Lasik option is a definate no-no, as if you get struck in the eye you could dammage where they cut the flap.

my dad had it done, before his eyesite was terrible, now he only needs reading glasses

He says the only bad thing was the smell of the eyeball burning but dont let that put you off, it's oly a few seconds then you get a cool patch

My choice is between Ultralase, Accuvision, and Moorfields Eye Hospital really -- They seem to get the best write-ups.

Think I'll book one of the free consultations and go from there...

Tim have a consultation with all of them and ask their success rates etc, then decide

Ross - I REALLY hate having to wear glasses so plan to have laser eye surgery when im in my mid 20's, im guessing thats why tim wants it. More freedom without glasses!

If it all works out then as you get older you'll probably just need glasses to read with which are about a fiver from boots

Hehe I've watched the vids. I can't wear soft contacts anymore due to oxygen starvation

It would just be so nice to walk in the rain and be able to see, or lie down in bed and be able to see the TV, or go in a swimming pool and actually be able to see anything, etc, etc, etc

I wore J&J Acuvue Dailies for about 6 years. Do you mean the new extra wet ones? Hmmm that works out around £2400 just for contacts

Still suck compared to having laser surgery. Asked Ultralase to call me back I'll see if I can pop in there first (they're in St Albans so it's easy to go have an initial chat).

Boss got it done, the one where they cut a bit out he said it was painless and his vision is as good as mine now....

Only thing that would worry me is the long term effect of having it, it's only been happening for a few years so know-one can know if it will have a long term detremental effect on your sight.

Yeah -- my dad had it done about 11 years ago and he seems ok. I kinda trust it now.

If it does mess up in 20 years time I'm sure they'll have the technology to replace my eye with a digi-cam or something...

No they are exactly the same as daily ones, about a centimetre in size. You just pop them in, forget about them for 30 days then take them out and change them. only £15.50 a month too
