obvioulsy when my car was broken into the other day, i ran them to see if i had to pay excess on a claim, if i was to make one, as i was unsure of where i stood as it was malicious damage, which doesnt seem to have any additional excess.

anyway, get home today, and my policy details have arrived, have a quick flick through them, and there seems to be a claim, for 1000 pounds on there, which i did not make

decide to ring them to tell them about their error, and have to ring 7 different phone numbers before i get through to anyone, due to their office hours being 8.30 - 5pm, which is of no use to me as i work half an hour longer than them

i tell the woman that there is an error, and i have not made a claim, when i am informed that i reported the incident, and i therefore will have it on my policy as an attempted theft

she also said, i have to declare the incident for 5 years. this WILL affect my premium, as it qualifies as a claim, even though i have recieved nbo money whatsoever

i was told by the operator to put this all in writing, but the incident cannot be removed from my policy, as i reported it, so my premium will go up next year

what a fucking joke, i'm outraged, if i had claimed, i'd understand, but i didnt, and i have no intention of doing, so i'm getting fucked over for no reason

oh, and autoglass wont come out to me at work, i will have to have the afternoon off, and lose half a day holiday

(sorry about the essay)

Tell them where to go.
You can phone and report an incident without making a claim.

i enquired about the excess hoping that i wouldnt have to pay for the glass, but i was told it was 300 quid, so decided to sort it myself

but, because i reported it, it goes down as a cancelled claim, so i have to declare it for 5 years, and every insurance policy i get from now until 2011 will be more expensive than it should be

might just claim, cancel the policy and pocket the money, then start a new policy and start my NCB again, as i've only been insured on it for 9 days

Direct Choice

their opening hours are 8 til 8 if you wanna buy a policy, but if you wanna complain, you have to do it in the hours when you are at work, which is ridiculous

Tell them you didn't make a claim.
And its only 5 years if teh company you apply for asks for 5 years.
If they don't its not.
You can cancel within 14 days anyway.
I'd try and get somebody english for a start, then tell them you did not in any way make a claim and you want to cancel within your 14 days.

for one instance, if you crash into a car worth 15k, would you rather pay out insurance at, say, Ģ900 per year, or shell out 15k for a replacement car?

Id get in touch with the ABI if I were you, they state : You must tell your insurers as soon as possible - even if you donīt intend to make a claim. This is a condition of your policy.

However dont say if informing them & not making a claim will affect your policy - they should be able to advise.
