This time it was scary too
Was driving down the M42 when I heard the loudest bang ever! I thought, hmmm, I really should have changed my exhaust rubbers at the weekend as the exahaust has gone overboard. I pull over onto the hard shoulder to check of the car is still drivable. Check the wheels, suspension everything on can do on the side of a busy motorway. The exhaust was still in place - still a bit rattley though I decide that It would be safer to drive the car off the motorway as the junction was only 500 meters up the road. So off I go.
I pull into a lay by and try and asses whats broken. I cannot for the life of me think of what made that noise! So I think to myself I must have run something over which hit the exhaust...
I then hear rattling, however, the brakes work the car steers and handles as per normal. Very confusing.
So I get home from work, pull over in my parking space after thinking of the three things on the o/s of the car where the rattling is coming from. I'm thinking, fuel filter - thats fine, rear anti roll bar - thats fine and brake bias valve - thats also fine.
I then grab the rear spring to see if it's still in place. It's in place all right, but the fucker is in two pieces How on earth I have managed to snap a rear spring though is beyond me...
Soooo, anyone in the Birmingham area who has lowered thier car and has a spare set of rear springs thier parents don't want knocking about in the garage - please speak to me. I will gladly take them off of your hands ( especially if they are for free ) as I threw my spare set of springs in the skip a few weeks back

No this car is cursed. In fact, I am never buying a car that has been manufactured after 1994 again. They are all un-lucky. Fist FUF and this one has been a bit of a disaster too

Not sure yet, it's snapped at the first coil on the spring and the car drives normally so I would imagine everything is fine, apart from the spring that is, as it sits on a nice piece of plastic
If you want to put your old springs to good use Ash I would be very greatfull

They've been sat in a box for 2 or 3 years since one of the fronts sheared and I lowered the car. So doubt I'm gonna need em.
I'll have a dig about in the garage tomorrow, make sure I haven't binned them in a cleaning frenzy

They are the OEM ones. There must have been a fault in the metal or the heat treating was done wrong.
