Hello, i Have not Got a Clue but i want to learn pretty much all i have to know. Basically when my car sells and i get My honda Civic typeR.
I will miss messing around and Modding with cars so i have decided to chose a car that i will be buying as a project. Starting by total striping the car down to the bare minium and replacing anything and everything to body panals to the engine thats where my question come in to.
Hence i have Chose the Vaxhall Nova
Due to it looking a pretty basic car, cheap parts and Will look pretty pleasing when everything on it and should look Brand Spanking new.
my question.
1. I would be wanted to put a C20 exe Engine in the Baby from a Cailbra or buy a 2litre 16v nova, what the best thing to do buy a C20 ex or get a nova with one in
2.when i rebuild the C20 exe is it better doing this out side the car or inside the car and is it difficult to do. ( hence is there like instution do do this.)
3. Nova body panals are they easy to Replace does it require and welding,cutting,bending. Will it be in the Nova Haynes maual.
4. What should i do first the engine or the perk up the shell.

BTW please dont read this and think Idiot as i now basics on michanics and have changed many things on my old nova eg Startor motor. Exgust, alternator etc.....
Im just mainly wondering is it as easy as a diagram thats all cheers Ant

If you are going to be replacing everything for new then why are you thinking about re-building the engine? Buy a new one. Use an X20XEV too. Oh, and have about £10k to spare too.

That will be a bit out of my reach i will have round 1k to buy a nova with a C20 Xe in and the around 3k to do all the work i need to do to it.
I will start with the engine then do the panels.
I have a frined who does mechnica and and friend that does body work and spraying so he do me a full respay if i get the paint for £400 quid.

Probably be cheaper/easier to buy one with a C20XE already in there.

Outside of the car.

If you need to ask this, then you are probably better off leaving the bodywork to a professional bodyshop.
4. What should i do first the engine or the perk up the shell.
Depends which requires the most urgent attention.
