absolutely tbh not sure what id do otherwise did the whole studying thing for few years then went in RAF came out of there after a year and realised how there are just no jobs, its a cliche i know but theres great prospects and its a nice feelings knowing i'll be financially secure for rest of my life and not fooling around in jobs that are boring where all you live for is the weekend.

go for it , its hard getting in like but well worth it in the end i feel.

My area isn't recruiting at the mo

North Yorkshire is, which isn't too far away

Might even be better not doing it in my direct local area?

yeah i do disagree with the whole process as during alot of the assessments/medicals ect ive met some right half wits there was this one geek in particular and he could talk all clever and im sure he did well on all the exams etc but come to a real life situation e.g a fight in a bar at a wknd when were expected to get amongst it he'll be phoning his mam for help, i just think there should be a more fare selection process, as i believe alot of potentially better police men/women will fail but would go on to make much better officers than alot who manage to pass the tests/application....

yeah i faced same problem, i have basically done the whole selection process twice as i did it for GMP and 18 months down the line recieved a letter stating due to insufficient government funding it would be approx another 18 months before vacancies where available withing manchester. So i got on the net did a bit of searching to see who was recruiting decided to go for thames so will have to be moving down there soon once all training is completed, but guess its a small sacrifice if its really what you want.

if you get majorly stuck on the application give us a shout i kept everything ive done along the way so can give some pointers/tipps if your struggling.

firearms think of the responsibilty, if you shoot someone you are automatically suspended pending an investigation

i no up here you cant work in you immediate area/town

My Dad is a policeman. Must of been in for a while cos he got his long service award about 5 years ago

Hes been a local bobby, traffic police, CID and now back on the beat.

Not all coppers are twats. The people that think that are usually the ones that start being arsey with police and have made up their mind about them before they've even spoken to one.
