I''m a boro fan and at the min I admit we are playing poorly at best - however I would like to hear what other people think of a incident that has happened on sat night after the aston villa match.

Boro had just went down 4-0 at home to Aston Villa - and fans were very at the whole situation - including one fan who ran on the pitch and tossed his season ticket towards the manager - as he was completely p*ssed with everything that has gone on as late - this being the last straw.

Boro had a young 17 yr old playing in midfield maybe getting paid £400 a week- never gave up and was still running his heart out to the very end - come the final whistle - poor lad was very upset by the whole experience and in tears and had to get escorted of the pitch by other team members.

now compare that to Mark Viduka - a experienced international player - on god knows how much a week easily £40,000 - showed no desire to play and subbed at half time - then with boro fans waiting to vent their anger at the players as they left the ground - Viduka decided to blow kisses at the boro fans and also rub his fingers together as a indication of money.

Personally i feel totally at Viduka for this and hope that he leaves the club in the summer - I've always thought that money is too much a part of the game and that alot of players only care that the money and not about the club etc.

what do other people think ?

No. No they dont. Football is a multi-million pound business, so its only fair the most important people in the business (the players) get a good comeptitve wage, just as any other business would offer their employees.

overpaid, underworked, i'm not any good at football, but for 40,000 a week, i would learn to kick a ball at a goal for 90 mins a week, and train when i felt like it

was funny when the fan threw his ticket at the bench they gave him it back though

To answer your question I think they do get paid a lot however they only have a short career, perhaps between the ages of 17 and 35 when they play regularly. There are obviously exceptions to this but you see my point

so they play football for 16-17 years, maybe longer if they are lucky or play in goal

say 18 years on average

18 years at 40000 a week is £37440000 in their carrer

compare that to someone who actually works for their money, a footballer still earns more, and its only a fucking game

i wouldn't mind if they actually worked for the money -i agree some players do deserve they money they get paid- but Viduka to put on such a poor show and then to insult the fans who had to pay hard earned cash to go and watch the match- and pay his wages - i think is a insult

Of course they are overpaid. If someone told you that you could earn 40k a week by training a couple of times a week, sitting on a bench for 90 mins on a saturday and signing a few autographs here and there, would you say no? Where is the motivation for them, Viduka isnt exactly a spring chicken, the money he is earning by doing nothing is setting him up for life and he knows he doesnt have to work hard for it. I say lower the wages and increase the bonuses, scoring bonus, clean sheet bonus etc etc. Make them work for their money.

Palace are paying AJ 24k a week in the championship, which is an outrageous amount considering it isnt even the highest english league, but he works very very hard for it and looks like he loves being out there. I dont blame the Middlesbrough fan either, its time for middlesbrough to bring in the kids who have something to prove and drop the big money players.

yeah, the ones who earn a sensible wage, and play for teams where they have to work hard to earn their money

I'm a Boro season ticket holder and going through the same thing. The thoughts flying around at the momemt amaze me compared to last year.

I can't see a way out to be honest, we may as well quit now and cut the loses. We are down simple as that, if you don't think so can someone please tell me where out next 3 points are coming from.

The only people at the minute who deserve to pull on a Boro shirt are the fans no one else.

yes of course they get paid too much, i agree with stuart, bring more bonuses in and lower the basic wages. As for viduka it's the managers fault for signing and playing a lazy git really.

i agree fiestakidda - next up for us in the league is chelsea - and it would not surprise me in the slightest if they get double figures past us .

I do however fell that the comment that only fans deserve to wear the shirt is a little harsh - cattermole put everything he had into the match on sat and really wear the shirt with pride - and it was clear for all to see how hurt he was at the final whistle

the problem at boro at the min - is simple too many big name players on big money - who show no pride or no commitment to the club. They only seem bothered in picking up there wages and couldn't care less.

i would love to have a team full of younger local lads who would wear their heart on their sleve - and run their hearts out for the club - rather then these big name charlies who couldn't care less-

i agree that wages should be lower - performance related - at the min - i would be tempted to say you don't get any points you don't get paid, thats how bad boro are at the min

Yeah i agree on lee catermole. Too me though he is on the pitch at the same time as everyone else made as many mistakes as everyone else.

Trying is all well and good but when ur playing in a results game, trying only gets you relegated.

Sunderland try everyweek doesn't mean there going to win though

i'm a villa fan so i was pretty about the 4-0 score

yeah, end of the day these players are getting £kkkk's... would be nice for them to appreciate the fans who folk out £20-40 for a ticket. Some players just dont realise wot some fans go thru to support their club.
its not every nice to have to pay overpriced tickets to watch some cunt play without a care in the world!!!!

i dont think theres anything that can be done with restricting how much players earn.... but it would be nice to know that every player works their butt off!

Viduka should be disciplined by the club for that gesture. The fans are the clubs customers. In any other business a gesture like that to a paying customer would probably be deemed to be bringing the company into disrepute which is classed as gross misconduct. As for footballers earning too much I think the wages should be capped at a reasonable level according to division and it should be compulsory to spend the money saved on development programs to develop quality new players.

i agree, they get payed far to much for what this do, i defently felt for the young boro lad, im a sunderland fan so football doesnt get much worse than whet im used to... but what ticks me off is how a manage like sueness at newcastle cand spent 50mill, ruin at team n walk away from the job with 5 mill in his back pocket.... and that boro play g boatene, gets a new 10 million pound contract for doing nothing...

its the big clubs like chelsea/real madrid n barca that are pushing up the transfer market prices and also the wages.

Take shaun wright-phillips, he's played only a few games for chelsea, paid about 60k a week and might be on his way out coz they've signed somone else now chelsea, what i want to know is, why the fook did they buy him in the 1st place
