Thanks Matt - I knew i'd forgotten something - there's probably a couple more silly things that are alluding me for now aswell. I'm sure JR will be able to think of them.

That said, I never realy changed that many coil packs on Golfs. They seemed fairly reliable in my experience.

The bulk of the coils I replaced were on polos and lupos.

I ve got an S3 & have to say its great to drive only had it a few months its a (51) 2002 with only 27k on the clock no problems yet jus a replaced sensor on the cooling system about 60quid.

If you go to the AMD tuning site you can checkout availible remaps & expected gains if you ve got an S3 & a spare 32500quid you ll see around 459bhp which would be nice ;-)

If your gonna go for the golf get the 25th Anniversary which is 180bhp also has a few other extra such as bodykit & recaro leather (i could be wrong).

Can you fit a DV or a BOV to them? or do they not benifet?

they dont like them unless its a recirc

utter crap, they work fine providing you dont fit it in the standard position, move it over to the ic pipe.

thats intresting. we stopped selling them at work because some supposed VW 'expert' told us they should only have recirculating ones, might have to try them again.

Adam, when you remove the recirc valve and replace it in that place with a BOV, the car runs like a sack of shit (in most cases, some work ok) If you cut the ic pipe in 2, use a bailey fitting kit and blank off all the pipes at the back, run the vacuum pipe round the bay to the new location, it works fine. I should know, had loads of them on the audi without a problem. So many people running them now in that location. Best performing BOV for me was the HKS SSQV, tis a great valve. Of course, optimum performance is always received with a diverter valve as you get a little more lag with BOV's, but hardly noticeable. There are pics in my garage of my old setup if you want to look.
