I've been told that you cannot unlock a phone that is on the 3 network. Is this true?

nope

ive unlocked a few 3G fones but most nokias cant be done....(N90, N70, 6680, 6630 etc)

Oh well, bollocks, bought gf a 6630 for her bday (her choice of phone ) and its locked to 3. she uses a genie sim card and this is gonna cost her quite a bit more money to use now

DOnt suppose 3 have any special sim cards do they?

apparently 3 can unlock them if you ring them up, might just bite the bullet (and whatever costs) to get this done. If not the lil bitch is going on 3.
