The past few mornings when its been frozen, i've gone to drive off and my back wheels are stuck and turn really slowly, plus handbrake has no "feel" to it, can't feel it moving anything.

thought it was just handbrake freezing on, so i left it off lastnight and put bricks under the tyres, but the wheels were still locked up this morning.

had to drive 2miles till they freed up

Any ideas???

Its an L-reg 1.28v merit btw

could be a wheel cylinder mate,if its siezed and the pistons are slightly out it will push the shoes against the drums, making the handbrake have no feel, could be above as well, hope you get it sorted

Yeah i'd definitely say brake drum related for sure. If not that for some reason then maybe wheel bearings? But i'd stick with the first.

Best way to tell is if you go on a longish drive, try not to use your brakes too much and don't use the handbrake. Pull over, get out and feel the brake drums to see how hot they are. If they are hot as they've been used alot then you know that the brake shoes are sticking to the inside surface of the drum which they shouldn't be. MAY only be one side too. Best way to diagnose which side of the two if just one.
