i have 1.2 16v sxi shall i drill my air box or will it fuck it up

I personally think that drilling the airbox is not the right way to make the engine suck more air. In fact it happens quite the opposite: air which is supposed to be stored under mild pressure inside of it tends to flow away. It would be better to make a better placed and bigger intake air pipe instead, in my opinion.

Incidentally, Formula 1 cars had, at some point, their airbox drilled because of rules in order to reduce engine performance.

I did mine, i wasnt too impressed, the car started driving pretty dogily, im back on standard airbox with vaux panel. Much nicer....at the end of the day, like urs mine is a 1.2 sxi, and well its a 1.2

people drill their airbox for the sound. not really for performance gains.

pressure can still be maintained inside the airbox all the way to the throttle butterfly, simply making sure that the airbox can receive more air by other intakes, it should be good. when i did mine, you could put your hand to the extra intake and feel it sucking quite easily. Formula 1 cars would make sure their air intakes used the heat soak from the engine to induce the intake to take in hot air, thus reducing performance as it is less dense than cooler ambient air.
