depends whether they measure you speed as you go past as an image or how quickly you pass over the lines.

then again they can flash forever with no film, and if the road was being re-surfaced the council be have emptied it to save time until the markings were sprayed on

then say in court:
"yeah but no but yeah but no but there was this fing right.....I've been in Wales since 2004 and upon my return I did not realise the road had been f*cked about with in such an obserbed way that doesnt tell folk wot their speed is, like. I blame the youth of today. the camera should have been shut off while all work was being carried out until the speed limit was clear, or summat or nuffink!"
Christ i'm tired.

you can still be done with no lines BUT if someone was side-by-side with you at the time on the photograph you could claim they were speeding past and it was there fault (no lines to prove who the speeder was)
To be honest though unless you stand to lose your licence it's probably not worth the effort just remember 30mph limits are there for a reason

I don't think you can be 'done'.
Gatso's are unattended devices so they rely on the lines on the road to cooberate the evidence of the device.

No they dont, the lines are only used if you contest the charge in court. If you are flashed then the film is processed and fine sent out. If you contest it then they study the pic and use the lines to see whether the reading was correct.
The fact you were doing nearly twice the limit would show on the 2 pics rather easily lines or not.

I did this over in Luton, dual carraigeway used to be a 40, now a 30. Was on auto pilot @ 40 & went past a mobile speed trap

ffs you lot are all wrong
when you get flashed the image gets sent to a safety camera partnership office.
They take the cameras reading and have to verify it by counting the lines in the road. This has to be done before the NIP can be sent out.
No lines then you would have a strong case for it to be dismissed in court .
In fact people are now going round tipping paint over the lines to void the NIPS

You are wrong.
I've already given the correct answer. Therefore we weren't all wrong.
