Just made a parcel shelf to put my 6x9's in.

I did have loads and loads of pics of stages during the creation so i could make a nice thread for ice/tutorials pages. but me being me i accidentally deleted them all when putting them on the pc

Anyway, what i did was get some 1/2 inch MDF, traced the original shelf and jigsawed it out, sanded down and routed the edges to angle them off for a nice finish. then i traced where i wanted the speakers, cut them out, and made the speakers fit in nicely, (lots of trial and error)

then i got some acustic cloth from motor mania, and covered the shelf in it, stapled it into place, and cut off the excess. cut a cross over the holes, and dropped the speakers in. drilled them into place, and put the covers on.

put it in my car for a perfect fit.

Be nice to me this is the 1st time i have EVER tried anything like this in my life and i think it turned out quite good (for an amature, im no Iaz lol) just wish i had the progress pics to show you how it was done

here is the final product

what do you think?

good stuff, but 6x9's are useless, better off with amped front comps, you can then combine that with a sub if you are wanting some bass.

Looks good, however I would have mounted the speakers as you have but with no grilles, and some acoustic felt covering the top, thereby hiding the fact that you have speakers on the parcel shelf (theft deterrent)...
