On the 27th December I bought a JBL GTO2000 amp for 75 (down from 150)
Anyways, much to my suprise the speakers are louder and better quality off the headunit!
So I have taken the amp back to get a refund...to be told 'its not their policy to refund money on items that are not damaged' I then told them that I believed it could be damaged due to the terrible sound/noise quality, so they took it back and said theyd be in contact.
They said if JBL say its not damaged they still wont give me any money back, what can I do???
Even though its not against consumer rights, just about EVERYWHERE gives refunds, especially after xmas.
Think im gonna write a letter to their head office

Throw it around the room a bit then it will be damaged
A few places don't give refunds on sale items, although they are not saying this.

Do shops have to give refunds for returned goods?
Goods bought from a shop must be fit for the purpose for which they were bought, match any description that is given and be of satisfactory quality. That means that goods should be what you reasonably expect them to be considering the price you paid. If these requirements are not met then you may have a legal right to reject them and get your money back. If you cannot get back to the shop for some days you should telephone and let the seller know that you have a problem with the goods and that you want to reject them and get a refund.
If you have kept an item for several weeks without properly checking it out and then discover a problem or fault, you may have difficulty in returning it and getting a refund because you would have had what is called ‘reasonable’ time to use the goods. There is no legal definition of what a ‘reasonable’ time is.
For more information on getting a refund when things go wrong with goods, see

don't think they have to give a refund unless its broken. They should give you a credit note.

yeah thing is its not changing it, its getting a full refund.
Argos have a 16 day money back, Halfords have given refunds after a month etc
so I cant see what Motorworlds problem is

You could argue here that the goods are in fact are of unsatisfactory quality or were damaged when you bought them.
Since an amp is supposed to make your stereo sound louder (in this case it doesn't), then you should be able to get your money back or at least a replacement for up to the same price.

does your receipt say anything about you having x amount of days to refund which does not affect your statuatory rights

Dont think that he should have kept that receipt, whats to say they wont keep your amp and not refund you your money, you havent got any proof (unless you paid by any other means than by cash).

Exactly ... because they could turn around and say, 'what recipt'/'what amp' and with no proof of purchase you are stuffed
Call them up and ask about returns procedure
