I was under the impression that custom exhaust(basic ones) were just built to fit whereas magnex etc design them so that they give the right amount of back pressure for maximum performance gain?

it'll be a double over head cam if its 16v.... as far as i'm aware only honda make SOHC 16v engines.

and if its just a 1.4 8v (which it'll be if its SOHC) a full system will cost more than upgrading to a x14xe (1.4 16v... or possibly a 1.6)

does your engine have a cover saying ecotec on it?

if it has a cover, take it off and look if the spark plugs are on side of engine or if sunk between 2 mounds (where the cams are), if they are between 2 rows then it'll have 2 cams... or double overhead cam

and as its ecotec.... you're best bet is to spend the money you'd spend on an exhaust on an inlet manifold (lexmaul/mantzel) it'll give you better gains than most exhaust bits

uh? The inlet manifold is quite restrictive part, its the 4 bits that lead into engine (look on brosters garage... think he has a lexmaul)... other than that a 4-1 manifold and decat are going to be the only gains you'll get on the exhaust and they won't be massive unless air can get into engine quick in the first place
