So from a 1.6 running a decent spec, a Mantzel and a mapable ECU would work well too I guess...

Interesting, I never thought of that... Always though tb's with a mapable ECU...

I was just thinking about to when PVD was about, I'm sure the similar product from Lexmaul cost about £300-£400... £700 just seems a bit expensive really. We're getting into TB money there...

i disagree with u rob when u say c20 was not designed for corsa, in theory your right but neither was x14xe/x16xe til the drawing office at vauxhall decided thats what they was gonna do, end of the day not as if xe is fitted with bubble gum and glue is it

uses proper mounts etc if u buy mtech kit like me.

what if vauxhall decided only to go as high as 1.4 in corsa and x16xe stayed in astra, would u have said same about x16xe, i doubt it lol

im not goin down that road of which is better so dont turn funny anyone like rob/mark but my xe has proven to be more reliable in 6months than my small block xe's over 6yrs there was always somat wrong with my old engines, even down to eml coming on random for no reason, this to me is bad on its own. one thing these highly tuned x16xe wont have like marks is reliability ill wait til we see post on corsasport saying my engines gone BANG, may not be anytime soon but more likely now.

no, good point, but we all know i dont like the C20 particularly, i think its a cop out, its like seeing a big block v8, does nothing for me, but a superchargerd small block chevy does

personal opinion though

tell him, to go for it.
now, IMO most corsa are crap. but has anyone seen the lates issue of Practical Performance Mag.
there an article written by dave walker (mapping and emerald managment legen)
hes racing a black 1.4 16V corsa and its running about 170 BHP which i thought is pretty dam impressive for a 1.4. even if it is on TB's
the beat bit though was the tha handling.
from what i could see in the short article its looked to be very sorted, had it on three wheels etc etc etc
does anyone know this corsa, it races in the 750mc. would be cool to know more of the spec

no im not arguing what is better robhayes my mrs has 1.6 sport and i love it as much as my xe but i dont slag her 1.6 off same as she dont slag my xe off.

its not cop out like u said rob its personal no matter what u say u cant beat cc and xe in saying this i dont even think xe is big engine its small really still, why do u think i got mrs to buy 1.6 sport so i ca have best of both worlds

you dont though carl, if you had a perfect engine which didnt need rebuilding, and then went for 180bhp itd cost you about £3k

to get 180 bhp from a C20 you prob have to spend 2500 for mods and installation of the engine

it works out about the same IMO

how much is a rebuilt XE in a corsa gonna cost including all the bits? £2k?

a 150bhp low mileage X16 would be exactly the same

but lets not argue, we've already been there lol

well i disagree most xe's are puttin out more than the proposed 150bhp like mine 164 thats 14bhp up on book figure. i beg to differ i reckon xe's could make 200bhp on 2.5k

whether the perfect engine needed rebuilding or not it needs stripping to replace proformance parts and other re-working, its all cost and labour cost

well what ever this thread i think he should whack on manifold then maybe convert to 1.6 later on
