Ok, i'm gonna be lookin at pickin up a cav/cally/astra with a redtop in it, sometime in the new year. To then be fitted into my Corsa.

But i'm not sure what the best option is, i want it running mint, as i'm gonna be runnin it for a few years and maybe throttle bodies in 12 months time or so.

I was thinkin buy an old XE and then go and pay Vaux the 900 quid for the virtually brand new engine block on exchange, but would i not be better findin a coscast head and spending the 900 quid on rebuilding that 1
Sorry forr the essay

no major difference between coscast and GM, they both go porous.

if you want it mint, buy it now and re-build it.

why not just hold out til late xe comes along i mean one off last of the production line which is about 94, then do rebuild etc

i dunno what fuss is about really look at all peeps on here with xe corsa's u hardly see posts about xe problems, well not anymore than ur small block engines, which ill add are newer and supposed to be so much better

my xe runs sweet as a nut, its a real bitch slag

My XE smells like a lawn mower engine. I love it So noisy too, sounds like a drag car May be because it's running on just a manifold at the moment

xe's can still be mint runners at over 150k. ive seen a few run better than ones at a lesser mileage.

why rebuild it if there is nothing wrong with it?

I agree with J100 if your planning a rebuild anyway you would be mad to go for an ecotec, Id just buy an old 20xe and have it rebuilt
