I got one off Ebay think its called Falcon or something like that - got it real cheap but the quality was really good actually, been learning on it for a while. The other guitarists in the band think its brilliant for the price.

yes, music box is a very good shop

whats your budget, cos good names are expensive

the likes of rickenbacker, gibson etc will be silly money, but fender are good, and epiphone are made by gibson, like a budget brand for them, but to the same basic designs as their top spec guitars

id go for epiphone over fender personally, but really you need to have a feel for what the guitar is like, wether you like the build of it etc

also, when you are in the music box, get a couple of basic guitar books, they are very useful

yeah dude, get down music box and pmt down cowley road just so you can hold some and try them out, even if you order it cheaper of net in end. Theres a few guitar shops round oxford, if you pick up that free paper nightwish or whatever its called theres a few in the back worth taking a look at too

Robbo Im in Abingdon as you know and ive been playing for a while now.....

The best guitar shops in oxford area are-----

Modern music(abindon)-- quite cheep , small collection, staff not bad.

The big one on the cowley road-- with the mickey mouse on the window -- next to blockbusters= Big selection, loads of deals... staff are muppets.

The best one by a mile is called the guitar gallery in sumertown.... only sells stuff the owner rates... not necesarily expensive,,, if your a newby it helps to speak to good sales staff.. or at least take a friend who can play-- means you can actually hear what the guitar sounds like and your mate can tell you how easy it is to play.

Just remember that cheap acoustics often need alot of fiddling with string type/height ect before they are nice to play... buy the best you can.. i know lots of peole who have given up quickly because they bought a guitar which is horrible to play

Sorry if my typing is poor--- im a bit pissed

Also if your thinking about lesons then wait a while... I learnt to play most of the basic chordsfirst--LEarnt a few songs and basically got to grips with the coordination needed before i had a few lessons.... I found i had got to a point where i had gotton pretty good but wasnt improving at the same rate as before-- i then had a few lessons and they really helped me--- dont think they help that much early on as its mainly just learning chord shapes ect-- you can get loads of beginner guides off the internet

I'm looking at maybe getting an acoustic guitar too Robbo. You found any good online shops yet as I don't live near Oxford and won't be in Leicestershire much longer so online reccommendations would be good
