i have a 95 corsa gsi, my ecu light has been coming on recently. i took the car into my local garage and they advised me it was the EGR valve? what is this?

Its the Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve and it re-circulates exhaust gases ( ) back into the inlet to be burnt again thus helping reduce emissions.

blanking it off wont solve the problem. cleaning the valve and egr passages through the head might as sometimes the valve gets blocked up with carbon, which stops the valve from opening and closing properly.
