Bit of a stupid question but here goes. I want to sane down the engine block and polish so it looks shiny. A few people on here have done it and it look alright. Now will this do anything to the heat that the engine produces.
Will the heat desipate at a higher rate, or will there no problems.

I don't think people have polished an iron engine block. It would look grey and shite.
Say you had an ally block you could do it. The heat would dissapate slightly more slowly, but I think the main reason they are matt finished is because they are cast in sand.

Na, the rocker cover prevents oil pissing out all over the place, it stops you fron getting your hands caught in the cams and it stops the oil getting contaminated. Heat is mainly dissapated through the cooling system on the car... There have been a few arguments than suggest that they cause LET's to overheat, but they have a turbo so you don't really need to worry about it.
