I have quite a few videos on my phone of MK2 Escort Rally cars from the Grizedale Rally I went to last weekend. They are the most entertaining to watch by far! Would put some of the vids up if I had somewhere to host them.

What engine will the ones I was watching have been using? In the entry list it said most of them had 1998cc engines but they were n/a so couldn't have been the cossie engine. Would they have the Vauxhall XE on throttle bodies mounted longitudinally? Sounded like they were on throttle bodies to me, just didn't know what the engine was they had!

Matty, they probably would hav had the XE in them yeh, they are quite popular engines to put in the escorts, when i was at the Jim Clark rally the other month, most of them had XE's in. They could have been BDA engines aswell though

Could be one of at least 4 options :

1) Large capacity Kent (AKA the Ford Crossflow engine)

2) Pinto

3) BDA

4) N/A converted YBD

They could have been using carbs or throttle bodies.

And there are even the occassional treacherous swines that put Vauxhall twin cam engines in them.

That practise should be made illegal - they should only go in Chevettes and Firenzas and Vivas etc.
