Right come to abit of a dilemer!! My engine is meant to be gettin swapped over on sunday but we are now without a lift!! My mate has advised we can drop the engine through the bottom and put the new one in like wise. But im sure the subframe is gonna stop that!! Am i right and what does anyone sugg est?!?!

you will need to remove the anti roll bar and tie rods.

you drop the engine out the bottom anyways... even with a lift....
i wouldnt reckomend doing the job with no engine crane... it will a pain the arse and verly damagerous too...
you can rent a crane for around 15-20 quid a day...

depends what year the car is and what engine is going in... the later chassis allows engine to come out through the top, and you can... with a little jiggery get a 1.6 or 1.4 16v in through the bottom without touching the arbs or tie bars etc (tight though)

fro the sake of pulling your hair out... and maybe droping an engine and gearbox on your head... remove the tiebars and drop it out the bottom

seriously though when i'm doing engine conversions i like to be lifting the heavey stuff as little as possible..

iv done mine several times no and have just dropped it out the bottom like willays pics shows however my car is to low to lift it that high
would never try it with out engine hoist or tractor

I didnt, i took mine out the top, it was fine
would been more work to take the car off the engine tbh
