Ooooooo to be honest mate the argument has been raging for years about which is better

The thing is the 8V is a punchyer sort of motor which is better around town and can generally feel quicker.BUT the 16V is the better car IMO as when you are going down a roads you just rev the tits off it and it fly's!

Few things to get on the 16V too have you looked into them??

Rust! Boot lid..Front corners of both doors..Fuel filler cap,Most will be hidden underneath the bodykit unfortunately also check the insides of the sunroof

Ermmmm most probs can be sorted with cleaning parts etc like the ISV idle stabilisation valve and the throttle body.I had bad probs with fuel mixture and all the fuel system was blocked.Take it to VW and get a proper sevice and get the timing and the air/ fuel mixture done. The reason i say VW as it's a tricky thing to do right and it dosn't cost much.

And it should be pretty quick and should pull hard in every gear.A crunching 2nd gear is common as is crunch in reverse.Clutch should be between light and heavy if you get me.They have really good brakes too so they should be sharp.

They also have a trip compter built into the stalk so check that at least works but most of the time they just give out wrong iinfo!

Just remember there are LOADS out there so don't settle for shite
