my mate crashed his mums astra t'other day, it was only a slow 10-15mph into the back of a car stopped in the road without brake lights on. but its been written off, he said the damage was just to the bonnet, bumper radiator and that bar that goes across the front. how come they wrote it off?

If it costs more to repair than it would be to replace, and the model is no longer made then its generally a wirte off. Insurance companies will write off pretty much anything these days.

if the damage is more than 65% of the cars value then they write it off!
or so im led to beleive! so if its an S reg they will look at trade value being about what £1000 and so if repairs are more than £650 it will be written off! and when vaux charge about £200+ for a new bonnet you can see why!

they wanted 500 for the bumper, think the car was valued at 2800 and in all the damage came somewhere above the 2k mark
