Am unhappy as i won a holiday for two people to the canary isalnds on the 30th of Dec, would have been a perfect Xmas present for the Mrs 
Only trouble is that work wont allow me the week off due to not giving 4 weeks notice and not being able to move my already booked holidays back
I hate Tesco

So next time your all stood in Tesco's and there is a big queue and no bread on the shelves it will be ok cos the manager let someone go on holiday?? FFS this makes me so mad people saying its just Tesco's its not you lot that are going to get it in the neck from the customers !! If you took the job you have the responsibility to forefill your duties.
Oh and Incidentally 30th Dec is over 4 weeks away!!! So I suspect there may be some other reason your manager will not let you take holiday.

They make us book holiday for the whole year on the spot though, if something like this comes up theres nothing you can do about it, if you won a holiday not like your gonna give it up to stack bread. The way my tescos is run is joke anyway. speak to someone in the union they may be able to help.

doubtfull on union will more than likely be usdaw which is shit, I dont agree with booking up front for 12 months, if i were u i would offer to take it without pay that way they can budget for somenone else to do your hours, and with it being december im sure there will be loads of overtime before xmas to make up some of your lost earnings?

Same here, i worked at tesco whilst at college, and i gave them 6 weeks noticed before i went on holiday, they confirmed it and then said i couldn't go, so i quit. I hate the way supermarkets are run, the higher up people are mini hitlers. Complete assholes.
