Is there any advantage of the F16 over the F20? Or are they just cheaper to buy?

F16 has shorter ratios than an F20.

more acceleration... less top end

main advantage of an f16 for me is i have an f16 laying about, but not an f20

How much more acceleration are you talking? Like a second off the 0-60 or 0.1 of a second? and whats the loss off top end roughly? Is it quite noticeable? Just interested

From a scrappy about £30-50 as mentioned before. But if you're buying from a scrappy see if you can check out the the wear/synchromesh because sometimes they get worn quite a lot and then you'll end up having to get the gearbox rebuilt or buy a reconditioned one.

You won't loose any top end on a standard power engine using an F16 over an F20.

And on a standard engine you won't see many gains in acceleration either.

also worth noting is the f16 is rated at 160 ft lbs of torque and the f20 is 200. personally i wouldnt bother with the f16.

mate dropped an f20 in his LET at the weekend, as a slight problem with the f28 namely a big fcuk off hole

his car was RR'd with 320lb foot torque the car got a hammering last night and the gearbox is still alright for now

5 speed box, phase 3.5 LET 157mph the clocks were showing... just touching the limiter! reckon they were major over reading though
