For the 1st pint you drink, (depending on what it is) will take 2 and 1/2 hours for your liver to break it down, and you can legally drive on 5 units of alcohol...but its not wise.
I have drink drove before but would never do it again, its just too risky for yourself and other persons.
Another leading factor which would depend on whether you'd drink drive is where you live

Thats not true. Your body burns alcohol at one unit per hour sometimes faster, sometimes slower, you can never tell. If you are drinking weak lager then it may only contain 2 units, if you are drinking something stronger then there will be more units in it.
Thats totally wrong. You are legally allowed to have 87.5 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath, 200 milligrammes per 100 millilitres of blood, or 267.5 milligrammes per 100 millilitres of urine. This is never measured in units. Units are only a rough guide to help.

You think so?
Yes, those are the correct figures, but as you say, they are rough guidelines, no one can calculate exactly how much alcohol is on board without a breathaliser test.
Purely as a guideline, if a male was to drink 2 and 1/2 pints of normal strength beer, this would put them on the limit, could be slightly under, and maybe slightly over.
Another fact: The 1st pint you drink (If it contains roughly 2 units) WILL take 2 and 1/2 hours to be absorbed, and the 1/2 an hour is the time taken for alcohol to reach the liver and begin to be broken down

People don't calculate the ammount of alcohol to the mililitre, but the breathalyser at the Police station will after you have blown red on thier road side machine.
