My insurance is up for renewal on the 16th December. I've been on my dads policy for the past 2 years and am looking at starting my own so have no NCB.
Im 18 at the moment, but 19 on the 27th December. Now from the quotes I've been getting, if I wait till Im 19 before I take ou the policy, I will save £200 - £400.
Trouble is, I need my car between 16th - 27th. I cant even get lifts to the bus stop of my mum and dad because they are away at that time. Thing is, I only need a car to get a couple of miles down a country road to get to the bus stop. Can't really justify spending at least £200 extra to do this.
What do I do?

Get your car added onto your Mum or Dad's policy for their car for the 2 weeks, saves taking out a new policy and it'll be fairly cheap.

Fuck walking, would mean setting off at quater to 6. To get the bus at half 6, to get the train at half 7, to get to work at half 8.
Then the same for home.
Already tried getting the week off work, no luck.

if your parents are away cant you just be added to the policy on there cars while they are not using them so you can use there cars, obviously unless they are taking there cars away with them.
and yes i think its possible to add a car to a policy for a few weeks, sure my mam did this not so long ago when we changed cars? might be wrong though.

Most insurance companies do it aslong as your car isn't already insured for that period, which it obviously won't be. I've had my Mum's car on my old policy, and my car's going on my Dad's over Christmas.
edit- You're allowed a second car for upto 90 days in every 12months. That's how it is for Directline, anyway.
