Astrocytoma, a particularly nasty form of brain tumour, he was diagnosed with it about two years ago, i think...

RIP Richard, our thoughts are with his family, another big loss for the rallying world!

i am shocked. never knew anything about this. he was a GREAT rally driver. RIP Richard Burns

Shocking news, I knew he was diagnosed with it but not that it would end his life so prematurely. A great talent lost.

Is this real? As there is nothing about it on the bbc news website, or on www.wrc.com, which I'm very suprised at. I just hope it is someone's idea of a sick kind of joke, the guy is/was a rallying legend.

i very much doubt its a joke as on that forum theres at least 3 people that already say theyve heard the news and no1s sick enuff to post someting like that.

I remember when he dropped out of GB rally a couple of years ago, i think that was when he was first diagnosed.
