Rite my uncle was ment to be buying a 330i convertible, he found the car on Autotrader, contacted the seller and has been emailing and talking on the phone for a week now. The seller claims he had emegrated to france and the car was in Marseille, he agreed a price and the seller said he would sort out shipping, then a shipping company got in touch with him saying that they had the car, they would hold the money and would not release it to the seller until 3days after they had delivered the car; all looked officially, contracts, website which was registered on search engines. Well i went along to have a look at it all, he had a HPI cert for the car and that was all clear, but looked at the email address and it was a yahoo address, then looked at the site and that looked ok, so googled the company and there was a forum for Marseille that someone had posted questioning the residents if they knew of the company, there were a few replies for people asking the same thing as they had either bought or were thinking of buying; i emailed one of the members and he replied asking me to call him; turns out he was a copper and he had been caught out by this scam and so had many others that he knew of
The bloke has now been grouping all the victims and passing them on to the fraud squad etc.
Was lucky tho as if i hadnt have gone along my uncle would have lost around £20K But also means i wont be gettin my BMW just yet

lol well done mate.
I was in uni the other day and heard some kiddy on the phone to his mate who he was trying to sell his car for him.
He was reading out a e-mail he recieved to his mate on the phone. As i over heard him reading it i thought that sounds familar and it clicked that i had the same scam e-mail when i was selling my corsa.
Went over and interupted him and told him it was scam which save his mate some £££
