... about weighing in his car...

I decided to pop into the weighbridge near my work and put my Celica GT4 on. Its an ST205 model with climate control.

The result - with 3/4 of a tank of fuel, me in the drivers seat, and various other crap in the boot - was exactly 1500kg's

Without me in the seat it was 1420kg's

standard JDM cars are supposed to weigh 1380kg's

So pretty much as expected, but I was just interested to see for myself!

your corsa weighs about half of my car... and has probably half the power too.... now that adds up to a quick lil car!

My mums works have a public weighbridge, mine weighed 1235kg's. Think its supposed to weigh 1255 or 1295???

Thought the Celica would be lighter than that Ditch, thats BMW territory!!! Build quality must be pretty good!!!!

approx 300bhp...

so if the car weighs 1380kgs (no petrol!) then it would go something like...

(300bhp/1380kg's) x 1000 = 217.3 bhp / ton

My old Astra GTE weighed in at 993kg's with no petrol and no rear bench in it... so that gave it 157bhp / tonne

Its nicely screwed together fella yea, but has adjustables on it so isnt the best ride over bumpy roads... (lovely for giving it some right foot down a B road though...)

Im quite tempted to start removing bits now...

I mean do I really need climate control or folding mirrors???
