I though of disco lights but dont have any in the nursery 
I have shiny paper collages, making wands, using silver and gold, cant think of much else

Sequins? metallic thread, metallic fabric, voile (the thin netting material) metallic paper, metallic pens, disco lights, metallic paint ....
Make a collage of their fave pop star and use sequins paint and fabric ....
Making Hats, could get them to paper mache a bowl etc and seeing as its xmas follow the xmas story and pretend they are the gifts the 3 kings gave jesus....
And all that in 60 seconds of typing come on car you'll think of somthing...

Girls could make mermaid tails with sequins ... not sure about the boys, perhaps cars they paper mache and paint with metallic paint
