Yes something broke (well in fact couple of things)
Side panel for the seat adjustment (might have been my fault giving it a clout :lol
Kept getting a damaged tyre warning (they were all ok)
The rear blind stuck half way up and kept clicking randomally.
2.0 HDi engine is wasted in the 607 - its terribly slow (torquey but slow)
People pay £25k for this pile of worthless french junk.
My previous thoughts confirmed.

Its quite good fun trying to break a car when its not yours At work we used to have an old 1.6 8v G reg Astra that had been stolen and recovered god knows how many times and the paint was peeling off on the bonnet from where it looked like someone had thrown brake fluid or something on it. It was silver and where the paint came off it was green underneath. Car was quite rusty.
I used to redline it at every opportunity ( dont think it had a limiter, it just sort of ran out of power and wouldn't go any quicker ) If I had to drive it home from work I would go home all the way in 2nd and 3rd gear trying to destroy it it ripped well from cold 1st thing in the morning from the bottom of my drive too

Doesn't the spanner just mean the car's due it's next service?

Spanner means service it will not come on untill it reaches the required milleage. It simply counts down the milleage and then comes on 500 miles or so before service is due.
