Yellow is anywhere which is not browsing a forum or viewing a thread, or looking at that page.

The dots were just an experiment and are going. Last nights update was more about getting more data in there, and there's more to come.

So for example if you are attending a show at Santa Pod, postcode is NN29 so you go there in that page and get hotels nearby.

Many things, finding people might be one thing if I can do it without compromising security and giving too much away.

No not got that data and its very expensive. I'm hopeful I can integrate in to something like Google or Yahoo maps or one of the other online services to do the planning but as I don't really have a business case for doing it in house.

yeah, the security bit was the only thing that got me, as when i typed my post code in it comes up with the villages associated to it and theyre all within 5 miles of me, and theyre all very small villages so wouldnt be that hard to track me down, lol

In circumstances like that there is no reason why you couldn't supply false information, ie. nearest big town.

Although there are many villages/districts associated with single codes, the single code only has one waypoint, ie. whatever village you choose you look like you are coming from the centre of the postcode which is stored.

In any event, it won't be possible to pinpoint you unless the user trying to do so is a buddy of yours who you have also added (ie. buddy is two way) and even then they will only get distance and direction from their current location. There is a small hole here in that home location can be changed - as it must be - the feature is less useful if you can't place yourself in different areas. This is for the future, at which time I'll probably also add a tick box to opt out of being discovered completely.

It is a concern of mine and I'll take input on what users want or don't want.

Edit to say that I'll make it so you have to opt in to being discovered, ie. doing nothing means you're not.

The observant among you will have noticed the rounding inconsistencies in the distances

Some round to 1dp and some to 0dp, meaning there's a different margin for range of the original number. Might fix that.

Just a thought..

could you not convert .ov2 files with poi's designed for tomtom sat nav to work with the system?

I tried opening one and although a lot of the data was rubbish, you could read the postcodes.

check out poisoft.co.uk for some examples!
