Hi guys as most of you know ive had a 1.2 put in my 1.6 , its finnally nearly finished just an alternator tensioner to adjust slightly which is getting done today...

Started this last weekend

Engine ready to be taken out with everything disconnected...

Once the engine was out one big hole and a very worried owner

Next we prepared the 1.6 engine to be put in, contray to popular belief a 1.2 wont come out the top ( it did ) and the 1.6 certainly wont go in through the top but you guessed it did.

Heres the engine just after being put in, someone had tried to spray it gold before and failed

Right now everything seemed to be connected up but not even the dash lights were working which got me puzzled so i turned to Corsasport It was pointed out to me that there should be more positve's on the positive terminal so i rumaged through the wires and found 2 which wernt connected.... shown in the picture below with red sleeves..

Once these were connected wahay dash lights howver the car still wouldnt start

This all pointed to the fuel pump as it was sparking etc...

Took me a few days to work out and asking on here, but eventually i found the fuel pump relay for the 1.2 ran a wire from the 1.6 loom across to the 1.2 loom and bingo turned the key and it started !!

Few other things still left to do, work out how to connect the brake servo hose up which in the end was done with a few seperate pieces of metal beaded pipe and 4 hose clips

Still trying to sort out the alternator tensioner then going to take it for a spin
Unfortunatly its a bit noisy because the exhaust is blowing cause the gasket i had didnt fit but thats easily sorted ...

Final Pic needs cleaning i know ...

Airbox still to go in not in yet as need to play around with the tensioner so the belt doesnt rub on the cam cover, apart from that its all go

PS hope this isnt to boring

good job, but IMHO any engine conversion that takes less then 6 months hasnt been done correctly.

well

EML light stays off until i give it some shit then it comes on so not a big problem,... exhaust gasket and the gasket between the manifold and the downpipe are both getting changed tomorrow..then ill see if the eml is coming on .

Its nothing special at the moment But i think its a great posibility that the exhaust gasket is causing it to not run to well.. and bringing the eml light on cause its running rather rich at the moment , but the eml light doesnt come on till i floor the throttle which is making me think its just cause of the gasket, then again i know sweet Fuck all about engines

I still the the EML is the lambda sensor, from the fact it's only coming on when you plant the throttle... get the gasket on and some silicon round that pipe that came out before and it should be happy as larry.
