i have some fud on msn telling me his mates 106 rallye 1.3 with 17inch wheels will do 140mph cos it has a gti gearbox??? surley this isnt right??
and a saxo vtr with a 4branch and a backbox will do 140mph also...
am i wrong to argue with him?

No, vtr would be lucky to hit 120 if that, the rallye is quick but 140 is a bit excessive, i would guess 120.

ivehad vtr's and rallye and they dont do 140

knowing speedos they may well say 130+ but its more likely to be 115-120.

i dont know if hes still got it but Simo www.sax-p.com had a calulator on his site for saxos and 106s you out in the gear, revs and tyre size and it tells you the maximum speed possible.
