Been waiting to plan it all again for ages, its been the first opportuinity though this weekend.
So, Im applying for my working holiday visas for Australia and New Zealand next spring (NZ visa is valid for 23 months, Australian visa is valid for 12 months) then flying out to Thailand for 6 weeks to take in the east coast beaches and islands then off to NZ for 3 months, then off to the Cook Islands (focusing on Rarotonga) for 2 months then back to NZ for 10-12 months working on Organic Farms (through the Wwoof Organization) then over to Australia for 10 months visiting the Cocos and Christmas Islands for 3-4 weeks. Thats as far as I got.
Im so looking forward to it already. I miss australia and Fiji so badly I could go back tomorrow....

Its so much easier than you imagine. Apart from 2 or 3 of my friends, no-one I know is interested in it. Its much more than just going on holiday, its experiencing other cultures and meeting people who end up being lifelong friends and sharing stories with other people about their adventures. If I knew I had to stay where I am now for the rest of my life, I really dont know what I would do.
You can tell when you leave the holiday phase of being away for so long when you turn up at the watefall in the same bit of rainforest you left 6 months earlier, or the coral reef you snorkelled over while on a yacht with a few of your friends.

The problem I had last time I came back was I bought something I couldnt afford. If I hadnt bought that I would be away again already. Next time I wont make that mistake, ill get the money saved straight away and be off somewhere else.

Since 2000 ive been to Finland, Sweden, Australia, Fiji, Singapore, Canada and in a few weeks im going to New York for a couple of weeks. Its a serious addiction, but its one that I couldnt ever give up and have no intention of doing. As for a mortgage and house - I have no idea what im gonna do in that department as I have no plans to settle down

Well, luckily because I know my work very well, when I come back, my old place usually gives me my old job back, but the next time I go away I dont think i'll be so lucky, plus it will be like 2 1/2 years down the line, It may not even be there when I get back the way industry is going!
Ive also registered with an organisation called VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) which enables you to work your way round the world doing Aid work and helping charities out with building better lives in the form of schools etc in poor countries. Ive not heard from them yet but if I do then it could mean my plans change and I go off to work in the third world for usually a contract of 2 years.
The world's a facinating place and Im always reading or studying the way different countries have evolved and how the westernised world really does give them a shit deal, I'd like to think that I could make a difference for the future or at least help start the ball rolling. I know i'll never start a revolution but it'd make me so much happier that I could make people aware that there are cultures that can and cultures that simply can't help themselves no matter how hard they try, its those that need a push in the right direction.
I think at least 85% of all the people I know have no real idea what happens in the real world, but usually just go along with what the Press say and what they hear. Theres definitly a lot more propaganda towards the third world than most people can ever realise.
