hey...
I've just bought a private plate and have been sent the v750 from the dvla. I'm going to have to post it to my local dvla office because really unhelpfully they are only open mon-fri 9-5!!
... anyways what I want to know is what they'll do exactly? .. I'm pretty sure they will send me a new tax disc for my car with the new reg on, but will the sort out a new v5 for me?
any help is much appreciated

Take your registration mark certificate along with your mot and a photocopy of your tax disc to DVLA.
Fill in a V*** form there(cant remember the form code)
Wait in the Queue at your local office, may take hours.
Hand in docs, and you will need to wait 3 days for the docs to be processed.
Return to DVLA, pick up docs, hand in your old tax disc (or send it back). You will be given a new Tax disc and your MOT will be stamped with your new reg mark.
Ring Insurance about the reg change (you may expect an admin. charge)
Wait upto 6 weeks for your V5 log book.

^^ I did this. Only had to wait about 10 minutes. Next day I called insurance company to change details over while bf changed the plates for me. Job done
Didn't even have to pay an admin fee
