not my progress..............all my dads handywork with me helping a little by hardly!

i been working on the new corsa when i get any spare min which is not to many at the moment!

we have started to convert the old farm parlor into my new space to work on cars and mainly to have a dedicated place to paint them, which is dust free!

didint take any pics of before dad started but it was a mess and there was a 25x6foot hole that was bout 4foot deep also in the centre so its been filled with rubish and we concreated over it last saturday! since then dad has been putting up mdf all over teh old ruff walls to make them all nice and smoothed, sealer going inbetween the sheets to make them all sealled! will all be painted white then and ceeling all being boxed off also to make it totally clean and smooth as we can!

just started to think bout the lights there are gonna be 8 double 8foot strip lights and prob another 6 smaller single ones in the spraying arear alone, this will be separate from the other area by a sealled door, also there are gonna be 5 small 250ml extracror fans at the top on one side of the room and one massive 18inch on going throught dusting on the other side of the room!

its not gonna be bodyshop standard but for me its gonna be awsome, and for doing it ourselfs from stuff we got around the farm also its gonna be maga, the lighting is gonna be massive improvement cos where i was painted there was only lights in roof so painting the sides of the cars u were in the shadow! here are few pics now........... summit bit different from cars

massive thanx to my dad who is doing all the work in here and its gonna be stunning when its done!!! his car is gonna be painted in here so he will get a betta job than if we did it in the other shed!!

thanx to stuart who is local carpenter who has advised me dad on how to do things also, massive help2!

also thanx to guys i get me paint off nu ange paint who give me soooooo much advice on everything bout painting and the spray booth! totally ace company if anyone wants paint or stuff like that u wont find friendlyer or more helpfull people!

here are a few pics:-

how the walls were

the gaps in walls are there delibratly so we can seal them all up, then white mdf primer and then bright white paint on walls and ceeling, then floor will be dont in gray floor paint i think, lights are gonna be all around teh walls at both 2 foot and 6 foot high! so whole car will be lit up everywhere! dad started stripping the room out bout 10days ago also! he is not messing around, should be done around the end of month!

i am sooooooooooooooooooo lucky to have the space etc! the room to paint in will be 15x30 foot, dad is running permant air hoses from the wall also so i just plug my hoese in from the wall and compressor will be somewhere else, will have tap to dampen the floor down in the room also and one in other area also! out of the spray room i will have space for another 3 cars easly also! around 15x 45foot i think ouside the painting area!

should be awsome when its done

probabilly not wot u call a propper system but 5 extractor fans at the top of the one wall and then massive fan running through ducting on the bottom of the opposite wall! so will have 6 extractor fans in total, dont know if it will be good or not but gotta bet betta than where i am painting with no extractors like i am at the min!!!

1 large duct would be suficiant if you made a canopy above were the cars will sit. or run a large duct down the center of the roof with some grills in it and nice sized fan to pull everything out.

don't just use normal paint bud, i do a lot of maintainance work in a fork truck factory called lansing linde. all their spray booths we have done use a rubbery peelable paint so that when it gets covered with overspray, every few months it just gets peeled off leavin the walls spotless. can ask my old man for prices and locations if you want

could well be, dont actually know where they are cos i just get them mail order and they send them out! been such a help in my learning process of paints etc!

having problems with lights at the moment, cos by law we are not ment to have open strip lights, cos the paint is highly crosive and so will go through the lights and corode the terminals! looking to have lights up at the top and box them in with perspex and then some low down ones that are totally weatherproof and dustproof!!!
