Email sent from the Customer Services team leader to the call centre agents (doesn't apply to me as I don't work in CS):

quote:

Morning Everyone

Unfortunately there will be no breaks today because of the briefings. Of course your lunch should not be disrupted but you will not be able to take a morning or afternoon break today. The reason for this is so we can cover the phones and complete the briefings.

Isn't the above illegal?

Isn't there a law about having a set amount of break per hours worked?

nope, as far as know your not entitled to morning and afternoon breaks, you are only entitled to 30 minutes break for every 4 hours you work which you normally get for your lunch

Yes that is , people who work infront of PC's in call centres are entitled to 5mins per hour - works out at 20 mins every 4 hours.

They cannot do that , do you have a union , bring it up.

Yeah that's what I thought. This company is seriously going down the toilet. Yesterday one of the distribution people that got made redundant sent this email to a load of people in the company and some customers too:

quote:

After nearly 5 years the time has come for me to leave, tomorrow will be my last day working for this company. For those of you who work for the company it has been a pleasure to work with you, good luck with the future and may all of you who want to escape, do so quickly. For those of you who are customers, hopefully I was of some use to you and I am sorry but you will need to deal with the call centre or your account manager from now onwards.

Soon to be unemployed but allot happier

The distribution manager and someone in HR were having an email discussion about this and then said manager did a reply-to-all (including the customers) with the entire contents of all of the email conversations saying he will apologise to said customers... What a donut...

He tried to 'recall' the email about 5 minutes after he sent it...
