Rob B showed me total vauxhall today with a few of the monkey off here in it, and i noticed a quote from Ian saying how he wanted to get the site back more to the cars than banter... thoughts on this?

in one way i think this is good but then i feel we suceed (sp) as a community because of the banter and this makes us get along so well... on the whole anyway

Think he means in a part that keep the banter to the correct place...IE here and not spamming up General chat and other forums..
I do agree the banter in here etc makes the site what it is..
But some members are scared off i think by the replies to newbie posts etc

very well put mav... i feel banter from off day sometime strays into GC as does various tasks from help zone and mod advice... i think that may sometimes be down to ppl unsure on where to put it or just lazyness...

think it is quite straight forward to be honest..
GC - general car/corsa chat, anything pics, mods etc
OD - anything else
all the rest are self explanetory.

He quoted only a bit of a bigger conversation, I was talking lots about the show scene, expanding the site, more features, that type of thing and I also mentioned putting banter in the right places.
It might appear from that quote that I'm saying less banter more shows but thats the only way it would fit in the box. We spoke for ages on what I'm doing with it, most of which appeared in the main write-up.

The banter thing is a slight worry, some days I worry lots, others I join in a very small amount, its all about balance and if GC is full of interesting new stuff and HZ is full of people getting help with stuff, I am happy.
If GC and HZ are dry though, and OD is full of crap, I worry.

that's very deep Ian... your maturity is showing as mav said though very well put, i do concur - when OD is flowing and GC+HZ are jus sat there with no new posts it's a bit worrying but i think it's getting better.
Ash there's totally standard Corsa's in there and then a selection of the more modified. Matt H, chumbly_warner, u, rob b, adam... few more i can't remember exactly

Thing is though, you can only get so many topics in GC and HZ, cos if people start asking the same or simular questions about the same subject, people get pissed off and make sarcastic comments about using the search button to find answers out.

^^ Sam loves the search feature
Rightly so though! People should just use the search button if they DO want a fast answer!

I agree to a certain extent Danny, but there are definately new threads which don't need a search.
You could say the same for Off Day, lot of re-posts. They both don't get new stuff all the time.

the thing is if its something you know why not say at least you get people talking instead of saying do a search. other things that do my head in is why post a reply if you dont actually know the answer.
