A student loan is a loan, it is just that, you still have to pay it back. Also, my stendent loan wouldn't even cover my tuition fees and accomodation, let alone books, computer software, food, travel, going out...

Who are these 'thick people' you speak of? People that never went to uni?

tbh i've been to uni and it was pointless waste of my life. Luckily my boss sent me and paid for it because I would be seriously pissed of if I had to pay it back.

I'm afraid most places look for work experience above academic achievements.

I admit there are two types of srudents - dossers and workers.

The dossers are the ones who most of you think about, the great unwashed doing media studies for 12 years and contributing nothing to society...

But you have the workers, the ones who are studying for a degree which is essential to their chosen career path - e.g. medical students.

I include myself in the workers section as I'm studying to get a job in a highly competitive industry, but one which is also very well paid, so it's odds on I'll be paying a large amount of tax when I've graduated and got a job. I'm not the only one looking forward to this...

In summary, rant all you want about the dossers, but save a thought for those of us who are landing ourselves in debt and using up 3,4,5 or more years to try and get a decent, worthwhile degree and make something of ourselves.

Thanks.
