Oooops, rang Lloyds TSB today to see about a transfer and they said because i do not have a years NCB that it is too high an insurance group I then went on to query the validity of my current policy as surely a 2.0 corsa with all my mods must be higher than a 106 Rallye; was so worried my policy was gonna be invalide but spoke to a bloke who rang the underwritter he said that it dosnt matter what engine was in there and they do have the correct capacity recorded and because it was originally a 1.4 then that is the group it is still in and there is just a small surcharge for the mod (engine conversion)

Phewwww, but as dunno what i will do about the new one

Thats wierd... I couldn't get insured on the 2.0 because I don't have a years NCB... Even though I was told before I started the conversion it would cost £x which seemed quite reasonable for a 150bhp car when your 19....

I had this when I went to insure the 2.0, as all my NCB is on the SXi, company I went with ended up mirroring my NCB on the 2.0

Yeh im gonna get my old man to insure it, just really didnt wanna waste the insurance on the corsa whilst it was just sat in the garage; but also dont wanna loose the NCB. So will be able to drive both

Tis gay tho the way the insurance companies work but Llyods TSB are cheap for conversions

i heard the price of insuring a rallye had recently gone up, a mate of mine has a 1.3 rallye insured with tesco (hes 19) and was told that when his insurance ran out he wouldnt be able to renew it as you now had to be 21 to get insured on one

I always thought when you did an engine conversion your insurance group became that of the donor car

Not selling the Rallye yet Gonna try to insure it but will have to see how it goes!

Yeh thats what they said, the corsa is still in its original group and the engine conversion is just down as a modification. So i asked would it matter what engine was in there and they said no, so insure a 2.5 for the same price etc
