except from the people who worked in the quarantine dept and went home to their budgies/parrots/canaries/cockateels etc, or fed some wild birds, or went to a bird of prey display and infected wild/tame birds, which will spread the disease further

All animals bar cats and dogs now, have to go into quarantine when entering the country, does not say where but they have culled the other 160+ birds there to be on the safe side the bodys are then burnt so no diease is spread.

ah, but the birds were in the country for a non specific period of time, during which they needed to be fed and watered, which required human intervention

all the staff have been vaccinated against bird flu, but between forst coming into contact with the infected bird(s), and today, they may have been in contact with many other birds which will not be culled and burned and may or may not be infected now

thats the problem.....

Yes but Avian flu can not spead from human to human, only birds to humans,

The only other birds they will have been in contact with is the ones in transit as they seperate them all incase things like this happen.

Quarantine centers are ususally very srict so with the threat of bird flu, thye will be doubley.

A lot of media hype about nothing at the moment, after all its only claimed around 60 lives so far.

Apparently it's going to take 5-10 years for this to be a problem, by then everyone will have forgotton about it, and no one will care or be worried, oh, and the problem will have gone away by then anyway...
