it will be a good idea to do it early anyway so if it fails on something expensive you can save up to have it done when your mot expires!!!

hows that shit? If you've modified your car and you leave the MoT till last minute, what happens when you fail the emmissions test? Need a cat put on, hundred pound job, car off the road because MoT has expired, have to find the money quick. Or have the car MoT'd earlier and know whats gonna need doing?

We arent all 14 and have to save our pocket money.

And it doesnt cost £100 to have a cat put back on.

Also im sure the law states that as soon as your car is an MOT failure then it is no longer classed as road worthy any way so shouldnt be on the road. Doesnt matter if it early.

The only time its then allowed back on the road is to a pre-arranged MOT.

I was using the cat as an example, but it works for anything, take a saxo for example, if you lower it and damage ABS sensors, needs new rear brushes etc youre looking at 400 pound with labour if the rear axle has to come out. i know id rather have piece of mind a month or so earlier to know exactly what its going to cost. Even if it does fail, the mechanic cant goto your house and destroy your current MoT certificate?

in theory why not just put some money by each month for MOT's so when it does come and something does go wrong you can fix it then and there... why take it early as your losing money? and as someone else mostly we earn money as we're not 14 so we can afford to pay for these things.

furthermore, as timothy pointed out u take it early and it does fail it's classed as no longer road worthy so your still in the predicament you would be if you left it until next month.
